In the last 15 years, Professor Voermans’ research has focused on European legislative studies. This has included studies into a host of topics ranging from the drafting stages of legislation up to its enactment, transposition (of EC Directives), implementation and evaluation.

From 2004-2009, Wim Voermans was the president of the Dutch Association for Legislation and Legislative Policies and he is the current vice-president of the International Association of Legislation (IAL). He is also one of the programme directors (Legislative Method and Drafting) of the Dutch Academy for Legislation.
