EALL, 22 may 2009
The Tunisian Government, in close cooperation with the OECD, has launched the Centre of Expertise for Regulatory Quality (RCERQ). The new centre is considered to be an important asset for promoting regulatory quality and regulatory reform throughout...

The launch took place on 19, 20 May in Tunis, on the occasion of the Fifth Regional meeting of the OECD-Governance for Development initiative (GfD) Working Group IV.

Focal point for knowledge

The new centre is considered to be an important asset for promoting regulatory quality and regulatory reform throughout the region of North Africa and the Middle East (MENA). The centre aims to be a focal point for knowledge and expertise on regulatory issues. The seminar ’Promoting Expertise in Regulatory Management’, held back-to-back with the Working Group meeting, addressed objectives, structure and programme of activities for the Centre. Questions on how the newly-established Regional Centre would be best supported were addressed in order to help this institution become a reference point for the improvement of regulatory quality in the MENA region.

Welcome RCERQ

The EALL warmly welcomes the founding of the RCERQ. In his presentation, Chris Moll invited the Tunesian hosts to exchange information and offered suggestions for peer support and assistance to the Regional Centre. They are bound to feature in discussions for the coming period.
