| EALL takes on secretarial role for International Association of Legislation (IAL) |
|
EALL, 3 July 2009 Since 1 July, the European Academy for Law and Legislation (EALL) has been acting as the secretariat for the International Association of Legislation (IAL). This was agreed by the boards of both organisations. Because the secretariat at the EALL is permanently staffed, the IAL expects to be able to improve its services to its members. The EALL fulfils this task besides its daily commitments as European-oriented academy for law and legislation. International cooperationThe International Association of Legislation (IAL) is a non-profit organisation in Bonn, Germany. The IAL aims to strengthen international cooperation in the field of legislation. Seminars, conferences and other occasions are characterised by open discussion about theoretical and practical challenges in legislation.Membership of the IAL is open to organisations and individuals with a professional interest in legislation – such as policy-makers, members of parliament, legislative experts, councillors, civil servants or other interested parties. In 2008, the IAL changed its name from ‘European’ to ‘International’, in order to reflect its broader perspective. Innovation by training and researchThe IAL stimulates innovation by focusing on improvements and new developments in the legislative field. Knowledge transfer, training and (the publication of) research are primary means of achieving this. National organisations related to legislation play a major role in this respect, as do other international organisations with a focus on legislation.Shared wishThe IAL and the EALL share the wish to improve the European legislative culture and approach. Close cooperation is inherent to this desire.More informationFor more information about the IAL, including membership, visit the IAL website: http://www.ial-online.org |
