|
EALL, 27 july 2009 Professor Wim Voermans, dean of the European Academy of Law and Legislation (EALL), presented a two-day workshop on Building Capacities for Legislative Drafting in Ankara, Turkey. The workshop was part of an international congress held in Ankara on 30 June and 1 July. The congress was organised by the Office of the Turkish Prime Minister, the OECD and SIGMA and funded by the European Commission. The Turkish government is preparing for Turkey’s accession to the European Union and assessing whether its regulatory framework and staff are up to the job of implementing the acquis. In the workshop, Professor Voermans discussed his report on the introduction of the EU acquis in civil societies. The report is based on his study from 2006 in which he compared the transposition of European regulations in six countries.1 The workshop was very productive. A follow-up session is expected this autumn. |
